We needed to address an air conditioning problem to complete the Outreach Office renovation project.
During warm weather, the office’s portable airconditioning unit expelled hot air from the food pantry/office area into the adjacent restroom and hallway. As a result, the temperature in that hallway and restroom often exceeded 100 degrees. Simply put: It cooled one area as it overheated another.
Inefficient cooling and high energy costs motivated us to seek grant money and help resolve this longstanding issue.
We are pleased to announce that our Outreach Office was awarded two grants, totaling $5650.00 , for the installation of a permanent airconditioning system! In August, the local VFW awarded us $1250.00; and in September, Choptank Electric Co-op awarded us $4400.00. These two grants pay for the cost of the system and installation. Crouse Bros HVAC. is now installing the system.
We extend our thanks to Choptank, the VFW, and the grant writing work of our Treasurer Andrea Pugh and Karen Schaeffer. These grants, and the airconditioning, are a true blessing to the volunteers and clientele of our Outreach Office!
