 Annual pledges support everything we do and are at St. Mary Anne’s. Your gift is spent on all aspects of our worship, outreach, and community life.In order to know what we can do each year, we need to receive pledge commitments on which to develop an annual budget. Decisions about spending are made by clergy and our Vestry, the church’s governing body whose membership is drawn from and elected by parishioners like you. Each fall, your parish Finance Committee prepares the operating budget for the next fiscal year; then it’s reviewed and approved by the Vestry by year end.
Operating budget income is directly funded by parishioner pledges. On Commitment Sunday, October 31, we complete our pledge cards with a dollar amount that reflects both a sacrifice and a generous and thankful spirit. We turn in those pledge cards during our Offertory. If you forget to bring your pledge card there will be some available in church.

Wednesday Women
In an effort to get to know one another a little better at our 10:00 o’clock service, a group of female 10AM parishioners plan to meet once a month for lunch. We want good conversation in a small group setting. We hope to have a combination of new and established parishioners join us.We are calling it Wednesday Women, and plan to meet on the third Wednesday of the month; 11:30-1PM. Our inaugural Wednesday Women luncheon is on Wednesday, October 20, in our Parish Hall!
We plan to have a simple lunch (salad and wraps) catered by Pat’s Select. We ask for a $15.00 contribution per person.
We hope to start a duplicate lunch group, on a different Wednesday of the month, for our 8:00 o’clock service female parishioners. If you want to help plan, and/or are interested in participating, please contact Karen Schaeffer for details.
In the meantime, if you attend the 8:00 o’clock services, or alternate services, you are always welcome to join this first group.

9/11 Commemorations
St Mary Anne’s participated in the “Stepping for Heroes–We will Never Forget” 9/11 remembrance event last Saturday morning at the North East firehouse. Fr. John offered prayers for first responders and a block away, our church bell rang after a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m.
Our church bell rang for a minute at 8:47am to commemorate the time when the first plane hit the World Trade Center. Thanks to bell ringer parishioners Bill Weisel and Charlie Kornsey. Bill is a retired policeman and fireman and Charlie is a retired Philadelphia fireman.
Last Sunday, parishioners continued 9/11 remembrances with special prayers during our worship services.
Music set the somber tone, as parishioners first listened to Joel Alarcon’s beautiful and emotional violin performance of the “Schindler’s List” theme by composer John Williams.

Memorial Garden Chain
In 2018, our churchyard’s Christine Cameron Memorial Garden, for the disposition of cremated remains, underwent a major transformation.Overgrown bushes that surrounded the garden, and hid a nest of baby copperhead snakes, were removed. We planted grass, three rosebushes, and two dogwood trees in their place.
Once the old bushes were removed, we noticed that the eight stone pillars, defining the garden on two of its sides, lacked a connecting chain.
Lee Mackie, a longtime 8AM parishioner, recently gifted the heavy black iron chain to complete this project.
We are so pleased this project is now complete! Thanks to Lee, and the Garden Committee that faithfully maintains it, the garden is now a serene and beautiful tribute to loved ones interred in this space.
Diocese COVID-19 Protocol Revisions (5/19/21)
Bishop Santosh Marray and the Diocese of Easton released new church protocols in response to recently issued CDC and State of Maryland protocols.
We attached a link to this ENews article and strongly urge each parishioner to review these protocols.
In short, we are authorized to follow Cecil County Health Department rules which mirror both the CDC and Maryland protocols.
Effective immediately, fully vaccinated adults are not required to wear masks for in-person services. Those not yet vaccinated or those with immunocompromised systems should wear masks at all times.
We have no restrictions on attendance or social distancing. Log books and reservations are not required. Singing is allowed for those wearing masks. Ushers will resume normal procedures including passing the Offering plate. The Altar Guild will return to normal procedures. Communion will continue to be offered in Bread only. Please know, Fr. John and our musicians have been fully vaccinated for months.
The Bishop states, “As we move forward in this new dispensation, I would strongly urge extreme caution with Christian tolerance and careful consideration of our fellow family members in this community of faith and our neighbors. They may wish to continue wearing protective masks or face covering and we should respect their choice to exercise that right. Furthermore, I encourage each of us to exercise compassion in considering the health and safety of our unvaccinated children and young people, persons who possess compromised immune system and/or underlying health conditions.”
Your Vestry is reviewing the new rules on Coffee Hours, the Choir, etc. and will issue a statement later next week.
