1st Annual Cookie Walk

October 6, 2016 by St Mary Anne Admin

Saturday, December 10th
10-2PM in the Parish Hall

gingerbreadThe ECW is sponsoring a new holiday event that promises  to be extra sweet–a Cookie Walk!

Visitors and parishioners will have the opportunity to purchase homemade Christmas cookies and candy by the pound. Besides cookies, vendor tables, and children’s Christmas carols will be part of this family friendly event.

We are asking parishioners of the church to donate 10 dozen of your family favorite homemade  cookies. We will need small attractive festive Christmas cookies. A large variety is very important. Cookies sell very quickly, so we will need lots of baking help!

Sign-up sheets will be available soon. If you need cookie recipes or ideas, contact amy.argudo@verizon.net.

Harness the Power of the Sun!

October 6, 2016 by St Mary Anne Admin

summer funJoin us this Wednesday, Oct. 12, at 7:00PM to learn more about residential solar power!
Considering adding a solar power array to your home, or just want information on the options? Then be sure to come to this informative presentation by MD SUN (www.mdsun.org), a non-profit that helps communities organize a solar buying co-op
(one is being organized in Cecil County).
See the flyer or talk to George Kaplan (410-658-0484, gkaplan@zoominternet.net). Lots of good information and no sales pitch.  Solar power is good environmental stewardship and it saves money in the long run!

ST. Mary Anne’s Wreaths across America!

September 29, 2016 by St Mary Anne Admin

wreathes-across-americaHello Everyone! I am very excited to announce that the St. Mary Anne’s Wreaths across America TM webpage is now available! For those of you that do not know, Saturday, December 17, 2016, St. Mary Anne’s Cemetery will participate in Wreaths across America TM. We will be placing wreaths on the graves of veterans buried in the cemetery following a ceremony, which will be held promptly at noon on this day. However, in order to lay the wreaths we must first raise enough money for the sixty wreaths we plan to place. There are two different ways you can help donate:

  • The first way to donate is online. If you visit www.wreathsacrossamerica.org , you will arrive at the homepage, which describes the goal of this organization. In the middle of this page, there is a red “Donate” button. If you click this button, a window will pop on the screen which will have three choices in the right of the box, showing where you would like to donate your wreath. Please click the words that read “Sponsor a wreath at my local cemetery.” From there you will be led to a page that has a search bar at the top of the page. In the search bar type in 21901, and from there you will have the choice to click the red “Donate” button under the St. Mary Anne’s Cemetery page. Finally you can select “Sponsor Once,” and then choose how many wreaths you wish to sponsor. From there you can complete your donation by entering your credit card information or electronic check. It is not required, but it is encouraged to also click the red “Volunteer” button as well if you plan to volunteer to place wreaths on December 17th by choosing to view the Location page.
  • The second way to donate is by writing out a check and leaving it with Mrs. Andrea Pugh in the church office. Please make checks payable to Wreaths across America TM. While each wreath costs $15, all donations are appreciated.

Thank you so much for supporting this project. I am beyond delighted to introduce this opportunity to St. May Anne’s. I will be providing more information in the coming months. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact me either by phone or email, as I am very active with both.

Let’s Share our Daily Bread!

September 29, 2016 by St Mary Anne Admin

breadDuring the month of October, we will encourage parishioners to “Share our Daily Bread” with an Amish Friendship Bread starter dough! Over the next couple of Sundays, beginning October 9th, we will give parishioners a  starter batter, along with a recipe on on how to share and bake.  Once the bread is baked and returned the following Sunday, some will be consecrated and used during the Eucharist. Other bread, will be donated to our Outreach Food Pantry. This stewardship activity will culminate on Commitment Sunday (Oct. 30th).
